Canadian REALTORS®— Market Yourself With Twitter!
Early this month, Twitter announced a slick, new, and improved layout! We think it’s pretty awesome and as Twitter users are introduced to the new changes, we’re looking at how Canadian REALTORS® can benefit from them.
1) Share More Photos In A Single Tweet.
The update: Twitter now lets you upload up to 4 different images per tweet. They’ll also automatically create a collage of those photos!
How to use this to your advantage: We simply can’t stress this enough: a picture in real estate can help you capture leads. If you’re at an open house or promoting a recent listing, take 3 pictures of the home’s best features with your smartphone and 1 of the For Sale sign. Post it to Twitter with the MLS® number and your contact info.
2) Tag Up To 10 People In A Photo.
The update: Twitter also lets you tag up to 10 different users in a single post without affecting your 140 characters limit.
How to use this to your advantage: Carry on conversations with more than one follower at a time. For example, if you’re at a Real Estate conference use this feature by targeting certain influencers (real estate franchise, event hosts, or brokerages) to encourage content sharing with your target audiences.
3) Pinned, filtered, and best Tweets.
The updates: According to Twitter, popular Tweets that receive more engagement will appear slightly larger so they’re easier to find. Users will also be able to “pin” their Tweets to the top of the page so it’s easier for followers to see your info. Filtered Tweets will let users choose the timeline they want to view: Tweets with Photos/Videos, Tweets and replies, or just Tweets.
How to use this to your advantage: You know that photo collage promoting a listing that you posted in Tip #1? Well, now is the time to pin it to the top of your Twitter feed so it’s the first thing visitors see. To pin a Tweet click on the […] tab within your Tweet and select Pin to Your Profile Page.
4) Profile Header.
The update: The header photo will now appear at the top of your page and fill the length of the screen. It’s similar to a Facebook timeline image.
How to use this to your advantage: This particular update really made me smile. Twitter just made it easier than ever for Canadian REALTORS® to establish their brand’s voice through this feature! All you need to do is contact a Redman Brand Ambassador to talk about your social media branding. We can design a custom branded image for you!
Despite the mixed feelings surrounding these changes, we know the new Twitter layout and updates are here to stay. So Canadian REALTORS® should welcome these adjustments with open arms, then use them to their advantage! After all, Twitter created these updates for people who want to reach a new audience through their Twitter accounts *ahem* I’m talking to you REALTORS®.
