blog-oct-28OK. I have to admit, as soon as it lands in my inbox, it piques my interest. The subject line of the Inman News email reads: “The ultra rich want to work real estate agents of their own caliber.” I save the email for later but the word “caliber” stays on my mind.

Caliber:  degree of capacity or competence; ability

As I start reading the email, I see that word again:

The world’s wealth wants the absolute best and they are willing to pay for it. They want someone of their own caliber representing them on their sale or purchase. – Bernice Ross

It got me thinking. If there is one thing I am certain of, it’s that most everyone wants the best. Another thing I am quite certain of is that though everyone wants the best, not everyone wants to do the work that is required to become the best.

The question then becomes, what are you doing to become the best? Or in other words, what are you doing to increase your capacity and competence to be the high caliber agent that you want to be known as?

An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. – Ben Franklin

One thing you can do right now:

Invest in yourself by expanding your knowledge of well…anything.

Why?

Countless research studies indicate that those committed to lifelong learning are more optimistic and have more youthful brains.* Additionally, not only are you able to engage more readily in the art of conversation with clients and potential clients, you are able to ensure you make a good impression.

How?

There are many ways to start expanding your knowledge. A personal favourite of mine is starting the day off right with the perfect positive message.

It might not seem like a lot but in the words of Ross Arntson:

he who controls his thoughts [or in this case podcasts], controls his own destiny.
