On April 21-23, I had the pleasure of attending and speaking at the AWE Conference,Innovative Approaches To Success – A conference focused on providing insightful knowledge and networking opportunities to women in business – looking for new tips and tools to succeed.
No matter how long a person has been in business or what field they are specializing in, one can always learn and meet individuals to expand their knowledge/network/friend base. Here are some of the items that I learnt from some of the other speakers as well as tips and advice that I had the opportunity of sharing:
Advice From Manjit Minhas, Mountain Crest Spirits and Minhas Creek Brewing Company – Revenues of excess of 11 million
- There is NO substitute for hard work. It is important to work smart and delegate. Success isn’t always easy – if it was, everybody would be successful
- Listen to your gut feeling
- When branding – especially on a small budget – consistency is key – know your brand. What is your brand message saying?
- Love what you do and keep in mind that everyone has a different definition of success
Advice From Eveline Charles of Eveline Charles Salon & Spas:
- Think full circle business model – for them it is based on “Results Driven Beauty”
- While transitioning your brand, you need to focus on creating the feeling that existing clients are still valuable – Education is one key step
- Our goal to maintain client retention is: Client Promise + Client Sensory Experience = Client Retention
Advice From W. Brett Williams of The Dragons Den:
- Key values in life and business – Health, Friends, Learning – it is life long, Career, Community, Passion
- Time + Money + Creativity = Leadership
Advice From Elisse Heine of Divertido.ca and Redman Technologies:
- If you have little or no money – the best tool for marketing is yourself. Get out there, show your personality and start networking. Your connections and friendships are the tools to your success
- Embrace technology – your website and social media tools can truly be your friend when it comes to gaining exposure and potential leads
- Don’t be afraid to ask for advice or help – most people are willing to share their stories and tips
